Students are strongly encouraged to prepare and collect all required documents and information as soon as possible to prevent any delays with starting the field placement component of their program. Students are welcome to submit accurate and complete records of immunity and /or vaccination records from their home country as per those listed on the Professional Practice Health Form. All records and documents must be submitted in English.

If such records are not available or complete, then students may complete all medical requirements after they arrive in Canada by booking an appointment with a Health Care Provider (HCP). Please note, you may require multiple appointments and having blood work done during your initial appointment with your HCP can help accelerate the process and may eliminate the need for some vaccines. Please obtain a copy of the lab results from your Health Care Provider as this will be required for your Synergy appointment.

International students are enrolled in MorCare Health Insurance (included in your tuition fees) and some of the fees and costs associated with these medical appointments may be covered. Students will be responsible for any costs not covered by insurance.

If you already have your First Aid and CPR certification then please check if it is current and meets the due date expectations outlined on your Professional Practice Health Form (Section B – non-medical requirements). Please note that CPR and First Aid Certifications from home country are ONLY valid if they meet and follow current Canadian Heart and Stroke guidelines. Online CPR courses are not acceptable.

If your certification expires during the placement phase of your program, you must recertify within one month from the time of expiration. Failure to do so will result in removal from the field component of your program and progression to the following level will be denied.

Students will receive the required Vulnerable Sector Check form from Fanshawe Toronto upon the start of classes in September.

Both options are possible as long as it is done before the deadline. You can connect with your health care provider in your home country and ask them to fill out section A or you can arrive to Canada and connect with a health care provider to fill out the form.
